Morgan’s & Fort Ancient.

So we all know how I love me some ancient Indian Mounds, and the great outdoors.

Enter: our second annual Morgan’s Canoe and Fort Ancient excursion on the Little Miami.

That’s right, a whole afternoon of just me, The BF, and Murphy. Let loose on the calm waters {TC made me promise I’d still wear a life jacket, which I did — see what a good, dutiful daughter I am?} of the Miami. In a canoe.

Lots of lounging done by me, till I’d hear The BF clear his throat, followed by a, “umm, can you help me out here, just for a second”. I love that he’d make sure to add that my services were only temporarily needed.

We had an incredible time and I am so thankful to have someone by my side who is as into nature and being outside as I am. Really is such a gift.

It might also help that he’s super fine. Hey, never hurts, People. Never hurts.

Speaking of super fine, how did I score him again? Let’s not pause too long on that one.

I continue …with antiques. Right. So I also have a love of antiquing. Totally feel all old and kind of parental-type boring saying that, but I’m gonna own it. Because it’s true.

That’s what happens when you grow up with a Maman and TC who spent every Sunday all over the greater states of Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia looking for that right armoire, or whatever they were after.

The now result? A storage room full of chairs and dressers from the 1700s that no one wants. Typical.

While I didn’t purchase anything at Fort Ancient Antiques, it was still fun to look. Oh god, it’s official – I’ve just become my mother with that statement. Used to drive me crazy when I was younger and wanted to buy something that she wouldn’t buy for me, which really was probably in my own best interests, but who gets that at 10?

Anyway, she’d always say, “but it can be just as fun to look.” To which I always thought, even at 10, F THAT. I want to buy some shit.

And just how cool is this Indian? I totally wanted him. Chains and all. Just look at that face! Those chiseled cheekbones. And eyes burning through you. But who needs Indian statues when you have this fine piece?
