Douglas Lake.

Naturally, I am extremely biased when it comes to the lake areas surrounding the great and wondrous Lake Michigan.

To me, nothing can and ever will compare to Douglas Lake.

A vast majority of Douglas Lake is owned by the University of Michigan, which means no development allowed.

It’s quiet and serene. It’s epic North Woods in all its simplicity and natural beauty.

When I think of summer, Douglas Lake is the representation thereof.

Late nights laying out watching for shooting stars on the dock.

The haunting sounds of loons calling out to one another in the middle of the night.

Lounging the day away on the lake side beach.

Playing all day in the water.

Yes, “play” does include my love of kettlebell swings. Such a great, fun and quick workout. Thanks, Pavel. You’re my kettlebell inspiration, comrade.

Plus, doesn’t my kettlebell look so cute, girls?! Pink. Gotta love it. Not that I’m trying to be prejudice towards the ladies, boys, but I figured they’d be more likely to appreciate a pink kettlebell.

Oh, and those sunsets. Those exceptional sunsets that fill my soul with wonder and peace.
