Tinker Toys.

WHY THE HELL did I not pay the additional whatever it was amount to have Ikea assemble for me?

What would an extra $100, or $200 have been at that point? Hold up slow up. It’s still Benjamin’s we’re talking about and I’m always serious when it comes to The Benjamin’s.

However. I am also serious about convenience. Time saving tactics. At times, People, it is more than worth it for me to pay for convenience.

Prime example being right now … so many other things I could be accomplishing, but whateves. It is what it is at the moment. For future reference I will happily pay all pre-assembley charges.

It’s like paying more for an international direct flight. I’ll always do it, because the hassle of a layover that adds a minimum of four hours travel time is just not worth it to me.

But don’t fret too much over me and my Ikea sanity. Guess what! It turns out Brother and I are both very challenged and slow. I thought it was just me but last night Hemnes experience confirms this phenomenon does in fact run in our family.

We had our dumb moment. Not totally our fault, Hemnes technically is still a little faulty, but being the smarty Brother is, he should have been able to see the quick way around it.

Obvs, there is a slim to none chance that I can see around these things … the latter resting on “none”.

Today, freshly rested, the solution was evident. Progress has rebegun and extreme celebration in that I would not have to go to Ikea for the fourth time in one single week.

In this case extreme celebration was a little something like this :

Yes. This is Brother hard at work while I do nothing. Much more of an occurrence than I’d like to admit.

Brother, being the amazing Brother that he is, never throws me under the bus when I freak out on him and demand to know why he’s taking a break.

Clearly there is only room for one of us to have a break and that’s me. In mis-matched clothes, actually wearing green and white striped socks.

Hey, they’re comfy. And warm. And I can’t find anything else at the moment. So there.

I’ve also come to the conclusion that assembling Ikea furniture is like Tinker Toys … for grown ups. Because no child should be involved in this mess.

Their stuff needs to come with child hazard warnings.

See. Tinker Toys. Totally.

For the record — I never did like Tinker Toys. That might have had something to do with the fact that anything I built, the Brothers usually took down within ten minutes and I was left in tears.

An additional for the record – Hemnes is STILL NOT READY. I really need to get on Brother about this. He needs to know I expect much faster quality of work from him. Not to mention, there is an Expedit shelving unit waiting in its scary big boxes.

I seem to be frozen in place with an inability to do just about anything.

Does that ever happen to you?

There’s so much to be done that you don’t even know where to start or how to go about it all. That’s me right now.

My solution, therefore, is to do nothing. And then make up “To Do” lists. Yeah. Real productive. I do have a goal for this evening, though.

Do laundry. We’ll see if I make it that far.Without freaking out about everything there is to do that I’m unable to do.

Classic.

We’ll get there … eventually. Work in progress. Always. All things. Right?
