What Can One Person Do?

I’m a sucker for ads. The good ones can even invoke tears. Tears, People.

The medium matters not — print, tv, it’s all up for grabs.

As I was leaving an afternoon of bronzing the other week, Nelson caught me out of the corner of my eye. He’s quick like that.

Whoever came up with these ads obvs needs a vacay. And possibly an award. Okay, both.

Being knee deep in kitty rescue, I found myself identifying with this question that much more. I know it’s just cats, it’s not like I’m saving people people, but it is a start and it is something.

I used to think it didn’t matter what one person did. Now I know better. That that’s the only way shit starts changing. One person at a time. It’s individual to individual until we’re not individuals but a group, and so forth.

It goes back to my taking care movement that has begun. I say it has begun because it’s already happening with me. If we all did the right thing of helping each other and living creatures as we saw fit, every thing would change.

Some People have told me this can’t happen. I know what they mean — the idea overwhelms me, too, at times. It’s scary in a way. But not so scary if we think of doing it together.

Nothing radical. Just small acts that define who we are and why we are. Caring about each other and our world. It’s not so hard and not so big of a thing when I think of it in small terms.

And you to be there with me.
