Equinox.

It is hot today — 85! Although this heat is more when you’re caught directly in the sun, sans a breeze or any earthly movement, you know, that stillness.

So yesterday I totally thought that it was Spring Equinox. A whole day ahead! Also known as Vernal Equinox. Gosh I feel so smart just saying that, even though I have no idea what “vernal” even means. But hey, it sounds good.

Spring Equinox — and please know, I’m explaining this more for myself than for you, because unlike TC, I need these explanations so then I can hope some part of my Taurus brain will soak them in. You can pretty much guarantee any explanation or facts {particularly historical ones} on here is always done with this mind.

Back to Spring Equinox — is when the sun is directly positioned over the equator of Earth. This happened at 1:14 this morning. Today is the day that day and night are equal lengths of time.

Legend has it — and boy don’t legends just sound so freaking cool — that the position of the sun and other planets on the equinoxes means that miraculous feats of balance can occur.

Naturally I don’t take this just to mean physically, like balancing a broom stick in your hand, but also emotionally and spiritually. What else would you expect from this yogi? Definitely a good time to get your meditation, yoga and just connect within … one never knows what balance might happen when working on the inner.

Did you know that at sunrise on Spring Equinox, Egypt’s Sphinx points directly to the rising sun? Yep. I had no clue. Leave it to those bad ass Egyptians to get all clever like that. Oh, and, it’s also the Persian New Year. Who knew, right?

An entire society that begins their New Year on Spring. That’s pretty awesome. I think I would dig us changing our New Year to Spring, because I feel more hopeful than in winter — you know, warm weather and sun and all.

I don’t know about you, but this has been a lot of new info for me to take in. Forget that learning something new everyday bs.  I think I just covered at least three new things. Boo-YA.
