April Fool’s.

In France, they refer to this day as Poisson d’avril — literally translated that would be “fish of april”. This day actually started in France, somewhere around the time of Charles IX.

One day, Charles decided to change the calendar and New Year’s Day was moved from the end of March – start of April to January 1st.

News traveled super slow in those days, so some people found out about the calendar change literally years later. Some people were also not too fond of this change and continued to celebrate the New Year on April 1st — hence they were referred to as “fools” by their peers.

And, voila! There’s a brief history 101 of this day.

Personally, April Fool’s has never been at the top of my list. This is probably because I was a very gullible child and would believe whatever outlandish thing was said. This is what happens when you have two older brothers, whom, from your earliest memories tell you crazy shit that you have no choice but to believe.

So I’ve been enjoying a lovely Sunday today. Woke up with The BF, and we went and got our Zen on, along with Brother.

The first 30 minutes, I was sure I was going to fall asleep, but finally I broke through the sleep haze and quieted my thoughts as much as possible. Was very relaxing and centering.

Maman is still holed up with her sibs, doing their boring, yet I’m sure very emotional Gpa estate stuff.

I’m hoping to steal her away here in a few and hit up The J {Target}.

I don’t know what it is about that place, but Maman and I can get lost in there for hours.

Really, I think it’s just about us spending time together. And in that case, it doesn’t matter where we are, or what we’re doing.

We’ll make it the best time.
