September!

What. The. Hell.

Really. September … SEPTEMBER?!

Wasn’t it just July and I was basking away my days in Paris? WTF. Where are the days going, My People?

And you know what? You know what my little M just pointed out to me {that would be my niece, by the way} … she reminded me that in one of the bathrooms, I still have Christmas décor up … Christmas. Which totally made me want to say, Well, Jesus Christ.

But. I’m dealing with young ears here and didn’t feel like being told I was either saying a bad word, or being questioned on religious beliefs and spirituality.

At this rate, said Christmas decoration is going to stay, which if you’re curious as to what it is — a stitched Christmas tree my grandmother made. Why take it down now when in three months I’ll be putting it back up?

And speaking of my dear little M, she started Kindergarten the other week … which made me also want to add in another Jesus Christ when talking to her, but I was good … I refrained from potty mouth.

She’s growing up so fast, which is such a typical cliché phrase you hear all the time, one that I always {secretly} rolled my eyes at when hearing from others about their children or grandchildren.

Well, come to find out, it’s true. They do grow up fast.

With the start of September … my mind inevitably returns to … well, return.

Return to school, routines, return to focus. Summer, even when occupied with work {I think} still has a relaxed vibe, a certain freedom that I associate with it … the long walks, ice cream … bronzing at the pool. Catch my drift?

September brings me back … back to Earth, back to things and projects that need attending to that I’ve put on the back burner … and believe me … I’ve got a couple of those.

I get excited about September … the cool weather that is right around the corner … the changing of leaves … fall … I can smell it in the air. That is, when the air isn’t stifling with humidity.

September feels much like a new start to me. Fresh beginnings. Creative ones.
