The Nothing.

Tonight, as we watched one of my all time fave childhood movies, The Neverending Story, we discussed a very important topic:

The Nothing.

In the story, for those of you who don’t remember, The Nothing is destroying Fantasia. M&M both looked at me, and asked, WHAT is The Nothing and why is it called that?

Cue moment to pause film and discuss life philosophy with a three and six year old.

So we discussed and contemplated. Oldest M said, The Nothing is what happens when we give in to our sadness.

I do believe six years of wisdom just spoke. Her brother agreed, adding, we don’t trust The Nothing.

Yes. Never trust something that doesn’t feel real. Stay true to you. The Nothing can never win when faced with happiness and hope, head on, without fear.

Their neverending conclusion to me: we won’t be afraid, auntie. Well. We’ll try not to be. We can be brave.

I told them that’s all they need to do. Because let’s face it — we all get a little afraid sometimes. It’s approaching our life situations with faith and braveness that makes the fear go away.

They already know this though. In fact, I think, they were just reminding me.
