Le Road Trip.

Still up. Of course. Would you expect anything less from me?

How is it that no matter how well prepared I think I am prior to departures, I’m always up all night? Thinking of just one more thing that needs to be done, or one more thank you note to write.

There’s nothing like leaving that serves as such a great motivator and ass kicker to accomplish shit. Hence, the thank you’s.

I found this wonderful quote from Vivian Swift about traveling. I feel like she’s already my bff, because of our mutual love of France. France will do that to you … you know, give you perfect reason to claim you’re already friends with someone you’ve never even met, just online stalked.

“Travel Tip: The term is in situ — in the place of origin. We travel to put ourselves in situ, in a place where we belong. The feeling that one was born in the wrong place is an ancient and universal experience, such that I suspect (a) it is part of our human DNA; and (b) is why our kind are born wanderers. We travel to find the place where we can recognize ourselves for once. Be on the lookout for that jolt of unexpected familiarity in a foreign land: that’s how you’ll know you are in situ .”

How perfectly said! I’m off to immerse myself in my own in situ and return home.
