Sunrises & Hikes.

Not like I’ve actually witnessed a sunset yet myself, but Brother has, so I figure that counts for me.

It’s just too hard to get myself up at 6:50 when I’m not under obligation to do so. It always sounds like such a great idea the night before, but then morning comes and all I can think is, oh hell to the no I’m not getting up.

So I’ll continue my system of having Brother wake up and get sunrise pics for me. That I will continue to pass off as my own.

Yesterday we hit up more of the North Country Trails. Okay, so it wasn’t a new section of trail — it was our tried and true 6 mile hike that crosses over ancient dunes and ends at Lake Michigan.

Brother ordered us Nordic walking poles. For some insane reason, I thought yesterday would be the perfect time to test them out. I still can’t decide if they were a blessing or a curse.

On one hand, they provide great support and momentum — we did the first three miles in record time. Yet, on the other, it’s movement of arms and upper body and holy hell. When we turned around to head back, I was done.

Completely done in. But I made it, and surprisingly, my time was only six minutes slower on the way back.

Brother and The BF {and Murph} had to get the customary yearly picture in front of the lovely No Dogs Allowed Sign —  but take note! This is until 31 August. The day!

You bet your asses we’ll be back with Murph to run that beach wild.

Today is set to be unusually hot for the North Woods, so we’re going to accomplish things. Things like marriage licenses and stuff. Yeah, I’d say that’s high on the priority list.

We’ll hit up the Douglas Lake trails later and plan for another long North Country Trail haul tomorrow. I’m feeling something 15+.

But I’m not sure if these two will be accompanying me. Except that now I know I burn 20% more calories with them and well … it’s 20%!

That means there’s probably a good chance I’ll be heffing my way through with them.
