Quoins & Key.

That would be quoins, pronounced as “coins”.

And let’s not forget, a key for those quoins.

What am I talking about?

Well. Definitely NOT anything monetary or something that unlocks a door.

I’m talking letterpress.

I’ve been continuing with my press restoration and am getting to the really exciting part … the purchasing. Of necessary items and equipment.

The other day, I was super excited, beyond excited, to find some quoins and a key.

You can’t press without these.

Quoins hold the type together, and the key is to lock and unlock the quoins, securing the type in place, inside the chase.

I have a few quoins, granted some very rusty ones, but no key … at least not one that works.

I’ve been scouring ebay for quite a while now trying to find a good deal and finally did.

Hurrah!

They should be arriving tomorrow … picture definitely to follow.

In the meantime, I’ve been pouring and obsessing over some type sets to purchase … oh ebay, where would I be without you?

So many great fonts, where to start?

What do you think of Bernhard Fashion?

I realllly like the lowercase letters of it.

I’m also crushing on this Twentieth Century font.

I can get so lost in these things.

It’s nice. Being excited about something. Like how I feel when I sit down to write on here.

Having a project to focus my energies on.

My next phase of all this?

De-rusting.

Can you picture me with a power washer?

Get ready.

It’ll be like ToolBelt Diva, letterpress edition.

Don’t worry, I won’t forget my lipstick.
