Color Me Fall.

I love that line from Pretty Woman, when she walks in and says:

Well, color me happy! There’s a sofa in here for two!

Since watching that in fifth grade it’s become one of my favorite lines – the color me part.

Rather scandalous now that I think about it – where were my parents? Prob too busy with teenage boys to care what their eleven year old daughter was watching, that’s for sure.

Not surprising, considering my first R-rated film happened when I was seven.

Really, I did have responsible parents. I really did.

This afternoon Brother and I had a wonderful walk with B. Soaking in all the gorgeous fall foliage and colors.

I was so inspired.

This truly is such a magical time of year. The colors were positively brilliant — you couldn’t help but feel uplifted.

Some of my fave were the Ginkgo trees. Not that I knew that they were Ginkgo trees. Sweet Gums weren’t too shabby, either. And  yeah, didn’t know what those were called.

I tell ya, that Brother, he really comes in handy.

Everyone should be so lucky to have one.

While the below shots aren’t the greatest – cut me a break – I’m dealing with an iphone camera and not in the best lighting – I wanted to share some shots.

During our walk, we crossed one of my favorite parks … it’s become a little ghett-O, okay, so a little less ghett-O recently. That’s what a good clean up and new, swanky, expensive playground equipment gets you. I have a particular soft spot for it because I used to play there as a child and was always fascinated to hear my dad tell me stories that right underneath the swing I was on, was a Pioneer Cemetary.

I still think that’s super cool.

This afternoon, Brother and I were both shocked at the amount of trash that we kept stepping on.

I probably shouldn’t have been too surprised about this, considering Halloween was just Monday, but I’m a Taurus — these things never cease to shock the hell out of us.

People not cleaning up after themselves? Unimaginable to me.

Especially because I see this act for what it is — impacting all of us.

Our actions have a ripple affect, no matter how big or small, significant or insignificant what we do might seem … it is felt.

And this, this is why every single person can and does make a difference.

Instead of being annoyed by all the candy wrappers, soda cans, trashy junk in general, and beer bottles — seriously! Glass in a park! What about the chillens? We decided to be pro-active.

We took some bags out of B’s dog pack and got to work.

It didn’t take us long before both of our bags were filled and I had already made a mental note to now include gloves in B’s pack. Yeah, I tend to get grossed out by things like old trash. Imagine that.

We’ve decided that from here on out, on the rest of our walks, we will pick up trash when we see it.

I realized that this is how it works. One person starts and off something becomes. Or more like a crazy sister and a crazier brother start.

We’ll have to see what becomes of those two.
