This morning, while driving, with the windows down, music blasting and me rocking it out — head shakes and all — one of The Cure’s classics came on: I’ll Stop The World and Melt With You.
Yep. A total classic for this Total Taurus.
I kept thinking just how true the line, “you’ve seen the difference and it’s getting better all the time” is.
Because I really do think this is true about the world in general — it’s getting better and better. I know there’s a lot of people out there who disagree.
They like to point out the horrible state of everything, from our environment to our economy. I ignore all of these things. I want no part in them.
I refuse to not believe this world is getting a little better everyday, and that it actually doesn’t take much to accomplish this. I see it all the time. It might be in small gestures and forms … someone who thoughtfully backs their car up to let B and I cross the street. Kindness from stranger to stranger … gardens in the middle of cities … but these are the things that mark change and start revolutions.
Wouldn’t it be great if all of us, each day, made an effort to be better and do better … taking more mindfulness into account with our actions and words. Starting with ourselves and letting this flow out to the world. I think that’d be pretty darn bad ass.
And today of all days, when it is so so beautiful, so perfect out. This sun and the blue sky, white fluffy clouds … I know this better and better is not fiction but fact.
