The Road Less Traveled.

One of the things I love best about Brother is his willingness to explore.

Wander off the beaten path. Go a different way. Check out new sites.

I am consistently driven by this desire …. to see more, do more, experience more. I want to explore the places others might look past, or not even realize are there.

Earlier this month, en route to our M&M’s birthday party, we both saw a sign for Wildcat Battlefield and both of course were like done and done.

I knew I was going to love it when this was the narrow road winding and twisting its way in towards the battlefield.

No one around. Just this tucked away now state park. A most serene spot, that was difficult to have imagined much bloodshed and loss of life during the Civil War.

In fact, this was one of the earliest battles. Gravestones and markers were sporadically placed, adding a further element of spookiness.

Presences were felt. There was a somber feel throughout, yet, a hopefulness; a peace.

Brother and I walked some trails and would pause to stop, read about who was buried where and pay our respects. Then continue along.

I like this idea of a last resting place. Though where would mine be? Who am I kidding … we all know that would be Paris.

Our Wildcat pitstop lasted a good 30 minutes … just us … in unexplored territory. I marvel at how much there is to see that has yet to be seen.

How many more roads less traveled there are waiting for me, for all of us … if we are willing to go down them.
