Jem!

Talk about truly outrageous … Jem has made a comeback in my life.

And omfg, People, all I can do is keep watching the eps on YouTube.

First, for those of you all, WTF is this Jem talk …

Jem was one of my all time fave childhood shows … that I hadn’t thought of in literally years. No, really, like probably a good decade or longer.

It was a true serendipitous moment … The BF and I were at a dinner Thursday evening and as an acquaintance and I were talking about tv shows, she mentioned Jem.

And I let out a little {loud} shriek and was all, “NFW! MYYYYY JEMMMMMMM!!” and she was all, “NFW! You watched her too!”.

Yes, I do believe this was a friendship made in Jem. Don’t you love when that happens! That moment where you know someone but haven’t had the chance to really talk to them and then you do and just completely hit it off.

I love it when I make a new friend. It’s that connection thing for me, People. While we are all invariably connected, we’re not all friends with each other.

And that’s okay. Because it’s natural. There’s some we gravitate towards and some we don’t. So when I meet someone I click with, I get pretty damn excited about it.

My last two nights have consisted of me, YouTube and Jem. Thank you, YouTube, what would I do without you?

I think the most shocking thing to me, is that I still enjoy the episodes! I thought that going back to {re}watch was going to be rough. That I’d be cringing in horror and thinking just how much of a train wreck it was.

Not the case, People. I’m riveted. And the memories are coming back in full force … so many many memories. The random memories.

Where I was during a certain episode, singing with my microphone, trying to dye my hair pink, a spring rainstorm, baked spaghetti for dinner.

I did say random.

What has shocked me the most though are things that inspired me as a child watching Jem that have actually happened.

I remember sitting on the couch, wanting to go to L.A. because of that glamorous Jem. And I ended up living there for four years. There’s otherĀ  things like this, too … such as sailing and Paris and volunteering with foster girls … but the biggest shocker of all …

Rio. Smoking hot Rio. He was the perfect, the exact boyfriend I wanted. Which was thoroughly discussed between me and my girlfriends.

We all wanted a Rio.

Well color me all shades of Jem-shocked when Rio comes on and is the cartoon dead ringer for … The BF.

I can’t get over the hair! The facial expressions, the face. This is The BF, in cartoon form.

Check it.

I just can’t. Get. Over it. The thing that gets me is …

You ask and ask and want and want … and The Universe does deliver, peeps.

It might be quick, or it might take a while — in my case a good 20 years of my Rio request to show up, but the whole Law of Attraction? Yeah.

That’s alive and kicking, er, producing. Manifesting.

It blew me away, People. The power of my words, my wanting and my imagination as a child … that years later, I see has happened in physical form.

I think Jem just might be the secret to my future, too. So I’m watching, relaxing and allowing all the bright hair, The Holograms and the magic of the 80’s to keep me dreaming.

And it is so much f-ing fun.
