Big Moon Rising.

Tonight, as I was driving home from dinner with the fam, I caught sight of a huge orange blazing mass out of the corner of my eye.

My first thought was, fire. But, no, it was the moon. Rising.

Huge and all aglow. That bright, burning circle of gorgeous orange-red symmetry. I stopped the car, put my hand on my stomach, and felt the reassuring movements of my child.

And I realized, that if I can just keep it simple — really really really kindergarten simple, then I’ve got this parenting thing down. And that while I might be afraid of the world for my child, what mother hasn’t, since the beginning of time?

Isn’t no time a perfect time for a fresh old baby soul to come back for the candy and the good human touch? Because there will always be plenty of some kind of scary out there. It’s just how it is.

But then. There’s the candy and that good human touch and big moons rising and big suns setting and life is so good.
