Kindness.

Whenever I’m feeling in a space or a bit of a down mood, I try to think of all the beautiful acts of kindness I’ve experienced in my life.

All those little and sometimes big thoughtful things People went out of their way to do for me, just because.

It always does the trick to snap me out of whatever mood I might be in, and serves as a wonderful reminder that our actions matter, count and do make a difference.

Today I was specifically thinking about a very caring and now new friend I made at the Pellston Airport. I actually remember her from last summer, because she was always smiling and seemed so damn energetic at such an early hour in the morning — always an admirable quality.

In July when Brother and I were wedding planning, our friendship began over coffee. She went out of her way to find me coffee at 7a.m. I couldn’t believe she’d go to all that effort over someone she didn’t know and something as silly as coffee.

The day of our wedding, I was puzzled when a flower delivery arrived. Of course they were from her. Wishing us a life of love of happiness.

That is kindness. Never expecting anything in return. Going out of her way for no noteworthy reason. Taking the time to care and to take care.

I find this to be one of the greatest aspects of kindness — it inspires to keep the kind going. That’s who I want to be and am practicing being. These are the things that we remember.

Kindness wins. It’s always a good answer.
